An HDMI audio adapter, also known as an HDMI audio extractor or HDMI audio converter, is a device used to extract or convert the audio signal from an HDMI source and provide alternative audio output options. It is primarily used when the audio output options of an HDMI source device, such as a Blu-ray player or game console, are limited or incompatible with the desired audio setup.
The HDMI audio adapter includes an HDMI input port where you connect the source device, an HDMI output where you connect the video display, and audio output ports for connecting an audio device such as a soundbar, receiver, or powered speakers. Once everything is connected, the HDMI audio adapter processes the HDMI signal and either extracts the audio from the HDMI stream or converts it to a different audio format.
